The Hare and Rabbit have long been associated with the moon, faeries and the goddesses. They have long been associated with magick, the ability to walk between the worlds, and are known to be able to communicate with the faeries. Their ability to dart quickly amidst the shadows as they walk between the earthly realm and the spirit realm, often disappearing in the blink of any eye, makes them privy to hidden knowledge and wisdom. They are witches familiars and also familiars to many goddesses. The Hare has accompanied Artemis and Hekate, is the sacred Rabbit to Aphrodite, Holda was accompanied by several torch bearing Hares, Freyja and Cerridwen both have Hare attendants, and of course Eostre who is said to have taken the shape of the Hare at each full moon and whose Anglo-Saxon counterpart, Ostara, was often depicted with a white Hare by her side.
